Seselia Selia

"There is nothing that cannot be overcome with the proper schematic and the right tools."

The daughter of one of Thanalan's most prominent Monetarists, Seselia is an eccentric tinker girl with an astounding intellect. She has created everything from new inventions to new technologies to even the creation of artificial life in her self-proclaimed robot daughter 'Ninita'. Yet despite the accomplishments, she is a shy and humble person... and not altogether convinced of her own self-worth.

Outlook

Seselia's role is that of a supportive presence in the Mysterium - a tinker supplying the more martially and magically proficient with the tools and items that help them to succeed on their missions. When forced to go into the field, she is vulnerable and typically fairly frail... not being much of a fighter. Still, she tends to have a few tricks up her sleeve... and they tend to be explosive. Seselia comes from a privileged background as the daughter of Thanalan train mogul Vovoteno Fafateno. As a result, she has a rather biased outlook on Monetarist affairs, though the woman has little of the greed inherent with the faction. This often brings her into conflict with others who harbor less than positive opinions about the controversial monetarist faction.

Detailed Description

The most obvious thing most people notice about Seselia is her ridiculously thick glasses. Three quarters of an ilm thick, this lalafell quite clearly has issues with her sight. The woman is a bit chunky and somewhat on the chubbier side, a direct result of her love of sweets. Her clothes are generally practical, and she is rarely seen without a toolbelt and numerous pouches bobbing at her waist... and the smudges and oil splotches to match the look.

Her cerulean hair tends towards the messy side, and Seselia is typically more concerned with spending her nights fiddling on a workbench rather than fixing up her appearance. Still, she is cute in her own way, and her humility lends her a certain amount of charm.

Bonds

Niniji Niji

Relation: Partner
Niniji Niji is Seselia's partner. Formerly Seselia's apprentice, they developed a bond forged over many long hours toiling together in the workshop. Niji helps Seselia come out of her shy and insecure shell, though whether the habits Seselia are forming in the presence of the deceptive opportunist are positive remains to be seen. Regardless, the pair work well together and it seems their relationship is blossoming.

Niniji's past is shrouded in mystery, if one is even able to piece it together from the many faceted falsehoods they have woven around themself.

Ninita

Relation:Robot Daughter
Ninita is Seselia and Niniji's greatest work. A synthetic lifeform that eclipses that of normal mammets, Ninita is capable of independent thought and action. Seselia and Niji dote upon Ninita like their own daughter, frequently devising ways for their 'daughter' to experience more of the world with ever greater upgrades.

The little robot has won over most of the Mysterium's hearts, discovering the joys of life bit by bit, though that also comes with enduring the pains of that existence as well...

Family

Vovoteno Fafateno

Relation: Father
Vovoteno is the chief engineer and manager of Thanalan's extensive rail network. Responsible for the many tracks that dot Thanalan's countryside, he carries a strong work ethic. A member of the Monetarists, he has an old school mentality when it comes to earning one's keep by the sweat of their brow. Nevertheless, the typical greed and ambition that lingers behind most Monetarists is seemingly absent from the man, and he is content to sit on a position below the esteemed Syndicate council.

Vovoteno loves his daughter dearly, and works hard to understand her new association with the Mysterium, despite his desire that she apply her brilliance to a more traditional pursuit. Nevertheless, he is supportive of Seselia's endeavors... even if he struggles to empathize with them.

Totova Tova

Relation:Mother
Married off from a wealthy Monetarist family in exchange for council favors, Totova expected little in the way of affection from her arranged marriage with House Fafateno. Expected to live out her life as a docile housewife, such was her surprise then when she found that Vovoteno was not only a successful husband, but a caring one. Their love blossomed, eventually producing Seselia.

Totova is a quiet woman who rarely voices her opinion, a trait that her daughter initially inherited. Though Totova never really found the courage to become more outspoken, she admires her daughter for living her life the way she feels is right. She is a doting mother, and a quiet supporter of Seselia.

Kokozo Kozo

Relation:Grandmother
Once a thaumaturge of moderate capability, Kokozo's exposure to voidal energies shattered her mind. On her best days, she is a semi-lucid presence content to mumble by the fire with a book. On her worst days, she raves about things unseen in the dark. Totova takes care of her mother as best as she can, despite her gradual descent towards being completely bedridden.

While incapable of holding discussions, Kokozo was known to have the gift of foresight before her accident. Rarely, Kokozo will speak quiet wisps of truth, things that will inevitably come true. Few have the patience to sift through what is rambling and what is wisdom, but Seselia is one of them. She respects her grandmother, and wishes she would have known her grandmother in her more vibrant years.

Hooks

Genius Prodigy
Seselia is a genius in every sense of the word. If you need some sort of technology and a cause that intrigues the little tinker... you are likely to find an ally in the woman.

Daughter of the Trainworks
Seselia is the daughter of Vovoteno Fafateno, a prominent monetarist. Just short of ranking into the Syndicate, Vovoteno holds a lot of power and as his daughter... Seselia enjoys the privilege of accessibility to financial resources. If you're involved at all in Monetarist affairs, you've likely heard of Vovoteno and his 'smart' daughter.

Fix'er' Upper
Seselia is a skilled engineer in matters of mechanical operation. From Magitek to Vehicles to Allagan technology, she is capable of answering most questions or repairing many items in these categories.

Sweet Tooth
Unable to resist pretty much any sweets, Seselia will partake of whatever is offered her. The quickest way to her heart is through her love of chocolates and pastries.

Spark of Life
One of Seselia's crowning achievements was the creation of mechanical robot named Ninita. More than a mere mammet, this self-aware creation is capable of many different things outside the realm of normal artificial life. If you run into the robot, you will inevitably run into the tinker who loves her creation like her own daughter.

Game Player
Seselia loves statistics and games of chance, particularly where odds and 'pushing your luck' are involved. She will happily sit down to participate in these with you if you invite her... and with a surprising degree of skill too.

OOC

I'm open to roleplaying with just about everyone - Veteran or novice RPer alike. I adore walkups and will do my best to reply. Feel free to whisper me if I don't reply, I may have missed your message in the chat scroll.I only have three real notes about my roleplay:Firstly - I am open to just about any sort of collaboration or introduction, including mature and dark themes... but please clear anything dramatic with me beforehand so I can prepare and make sure the idea is a good fit for both of us!Second - Please respect the IC/OOC boundaries. While I am open to the idea of character romance (and it is my favorite trope!), it is important to distinguish between IC and OOC. I am happily married IRL, and trying to push anything that happens between Seselia and your character into an IRL context is the swiftest way to ensure I never want to roleplay with you again.Third - I generally try to stay lore compliant in a public setting to avoid breaking anybody's immersion. FFXIV has a very rich lore, but I am also a firm believer in the 'rule of cool'. Seselia's story takes some creative liberties in regards to the Monetarist structure and the Syndicate itself. The Legatum Mysteria typically has plots that touch on some of the vaguer bits of lore and interpret them. If you prefer only to deal in absolutes in lore, please note that prying into Seselia's backstory may not be the greatest fit for you. Otherwise, I absolutely love when others try to learn more about my characters and I will attempt to return the favor of your own character's history!
